The majority of facilities in Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park - Alberta, including 7 campgrounds with over 350 individual campsites, are concentrated along the south shore of Elkwater Lake adjacent to the Elkwater townsite.

In addition, 3 smaller campgrounds with more than 50 sites, as well as viewpoints and hiking trails, are found scattered throughout the Hills.

The park is open year-round with a reduced number of campsites available after the peak season, weather permitting.

Visitation to the park reaches its maximum in July and August. Fortunately, a campsite reservation system has been implemented to provide distant travelers with an opportunity to secure a camping site in advance.

The seven campgrounds near Elkwater Lake are reserveable through the reservation system, with the remaining campgrounds operating on a first come-first served basis.

Reservations for individual campsites (reservation fee applies) may be made by calling 1-877-537-2757 or through online reservations at www.Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca. Campgrounds outside of the Elkwater townsite area are available on a first come, first served basis.

Fees

Camping fees listed with each individual campground range in price from $18.00 - $35.00 /night. 

Winter camping is available in the Elkwater townsite. Spruce Coulee Campground is also available for walk-in winter camping. Due to limited winter vehicle access to Spruce Coulee Campground, please notify park staff of your winter camping plans.

Overflow camping is available as required.

Group Camp Information

There are many choices for group camps within Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park - Alberta. Camps are offered by the parks' management operator, GRF Management, as well as various other private institutions. (Reservation fee applies).
