Chinook Nature ParkIn 1998, the Rotary Club - Chinook approached Fish Creek Provincial Park management with a proposal to develop a "Nature Park" on the park property south of Highway 22X. Comprising approximately 135 acres on the east bank of the Bow River, restoration of the area to a more natural state will benefit visitors and wildlife. The new "Nature Park" remains part of Fish Creek Provincial Park and any developments in the area will follow the guidelines set out in the Fish Creek Provincial Park Management Plan.

City of Calgary has made many changes in the area to handle storm water from Deerfoot Trail. This water is now filtered naturally through a series of ponds and marshes. Aquatic plants enhance the filtering and the visual appearance of the area.

The Rotary Club - Chinook, officially opened the area on June 18, 2002. Additional facilities will include park benches along a trail system, a parking lot, four gazebos and extensive vegetation restoration. The club hopes visitors will stroll through the area, enjoying the plant and animal life. To protect wildlife and visitors, pets must be leashed.
