| One of the reasons provincial parks are
made is to protect (take care of) the variety of plants and
animals and to preserve them (keep them around for your grandchildren
to enjoy). If everyone works together, we can make sure the
plants, the animals and their homes are taken care of. All
visitors to the Park can help, even children like you!
Take a careful look at the picture below. Decide if each child's actions are helping to protect the environment and the plants and animals in it. Click on the child's picture to check your answers and to learn more about Fish Creek Provincial Park. |
| This girl is enjoying the flowers by smelling them only: leaving the flowers in the Park to make seeds that will grow into new plants next year. |
| This girl knows that the best way to enjoy all wildlife - including snakes - is to watch them. Touching wildlife can hurt the animal or the person. |
| This boy is taking care of the wildlife and his pet by keeping his dog on a leash. An off-leash dog can chase and hurt the wildlife. The dog also might be hurt by the wildlife. |
| This child is using binoculars to watch the animals so he doesn't scare them by getting too close. |
| This boy is placing litter in the garbage can so the animals do not get injured by it or eat it and become sick. |
| These children know that human made food is best shared with people only. Our food is not what the squirrel - or any other animal - needs to stay healthy and grow. |
| These children are riding their bicycles on a paved trail. Staying on the paved or gravel trails keeps the plants alive and healthy. |
