FACILITY ACCESS

The Fish Creek Environmental Learning Centre is like a neighbourhood school; it is a public facility, but for the safety of attending children it is not one where the public you can freely enter and explore. It is an education facility where on any given day up to 150 students can take part in a wide variety of educational programs. The facility is also used for a range of public presentations, workshops and events. There is no public access except for these public programs and events, or as part of a group utilizing the facility.

FACILITY INFORMATION

The Fish Creek Environmental Learning Centre is back in operation. After extensive renovations providing more space and upgrades to the electrical, plumbing and heating and the addition of the most up to date audio visual equipment we are once again in operation. Renovations began in the summer of 2008 and wrapped up in the late fall of 2009 with programs running to capacity again in April 2010.

Fish Creek Environmental Learning CentreFive classrooms, an orientation area, washroom facilities, and staff offices have all been updated and enlarged to better accommodate our programs and services. Many “green” features were included in the renovations including high efficiency heating and cooling systems and a green roof system. We also have the capacity to combine three of our classroom spaces into one large space to accommodate larger programs and events. Large glass doors open the facility completely to the out of doors, and new A/V equipment allows for video conferencing and great visual and sound projection.

The facility is still surrounded by trails and access to the natural features of the park, and vehicle access and parking is easy and ample. Public washrooms, picnic tables, fire pits and an amphitheatre are located just east of the facility next to the main parking lots.  For more information contact the Fish Creek Environmental Learning Centre (403-297-7827) or the main Park Office (403-297-5293).
