Environmental Education Publications

For over twenty years, Kananaskis Country has provided Environmental Education publications to help educators bring their classrooms into the natural environments of Alberta. The following is a list of publications currently available to teachers and community educators. We hope you and your students enjoy these activities.

This publication explores the life of one of Alberta's most fascinating and misunderstood species - the wolf.  During a field trip, students learn about the behaviour and communication patterns that are unique to wolves.  Students also conduct a survey to determine some of the commonly held perceptions of wolves, and how they can present a challenge to wolf conservation.

A three-part program that actively examines how animals in a natural area interact. In part 1, each student is assigned an animal and asked to explore a habitat suitable for that animal. Students then play a version of the predator-prey game, in which they attempt to survive in the face of steep odds! In the final part students create a food web to illustrate the relationships of the animals studied.
