Canmore
Nordic Centre Provincial Park
A year-round recreation destination
Developed
for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games Nordic events, the Canmore
Nordic Centre Provincial Park remains a world-class facility.
In 2005 the Centre was significantly renovated to re-establish
itself as one of the top cross country, biathlon and mountain
bike destinations in the world.
In the winter… More than 65 km (37 miles) of groomed and track-set
trail for all ability levels in both classic and skating technique
beckon cross-country skiers.
In the summer… An 18-hole disc golf course, four orienteering courses,
more than 100 km of single and double-track mountain bike
and hiking trail, 6.5 km of paved rollerski trail, and a mountain
bike skills park keep recreationalists busy.
For more information on the orienteering course, please visit

The
Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park has trail suitable
for all abilities in both summer and winter for skiing,
mountain biking, hiking rollerskiing, and trail running.
For the less aerobically inclined, there is an 18-hole
disc golf course and a mountain bike skills park.
Trails are marked with level of difficulty on the map
and on the trail. Please select trails that are
appropriate for your level of ability – if you
are in doubt please take off your skis or get off your
bike and walk until you are comfortable again.
Trail junctions feature junction numbers and “you
are here” maps to ease way finding in both summer
and winter. Winter trails are named while summer
trails (single track) are labelled by colour.
Please familiarize yourself with the Canmore Nordic
Centre Provincial Park trail maps before heading out.
Trail Heads:
There are three trail heads for mountain biking
and hiking: the Day Lodge (single track access), the
Biathlon Stadium Area (Banff Trail Access) and the
Mountain Bike Skills Park (Georgetown Trail / single
track access). Please inquire at the Day Lodge
information desk for directions and detailed trail
maps.
There is one trailhead for cross country skiing
– located beside the Day Lodge. All trails
can be accessed from this point.
The rollerski trail starts in the Biathlon Stadium.
Bike and foot traffic is strongly discouraged on the
paved trail as dirt and gravel damages the pavement
and poses hazard for rollerskiers who have no brakes
on their equipment.
The Disc Golf Course hole # 1 is located between
the mountain bike skills park and the roadway leading
to the Biathlon stadium.
