Parks & Protected Areas

Alberta Parks and Protected Areas is a network of protected landscapes that promote preservation, heritage appreciation, outdoor recreation, and tourism. This network has several categories of protected areas. In Kananaskis Country there are five provincial parks, four wildland provincial parks, one ecological reserve, and several provincial recreation areas.

The Parks and Protected Areas network is a tribute to the Government of Alberta’s commitment to preserving and protecting Alberta’s sustainable resources for future generations. You can do your part in protecting these wonderful landscapes by minimizing your impact during your visits.
