Recreation Volunteer Recognition Awards
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism annually recognizes four volunteers who, through their volunteer commitment and dedication, have significantly enhanced the development of recreation in Alberta.
Every October these awards are presented during the ARPA/Energize Conference.
The Recreation Volunteer Recognition Award began in 1977 and over 209 volunteer leaders have since been recognized.
We are now accepting nominations for the 2015 Recreation Volunteer Recognition Awards. Nominations are open until July 22, 2015.
**Due to initial delays in announcing the call for nominations, the deadline has been extended to July 22, 2015. Past nominators are invited to resubmit nominations from previous years that were not awarded. Previously endorsed municipal nominations will still be accepted.
- The Alberta Culture and Tourism, Energize Advisory Committee, is responsible for reviewing the completed nomination submissions and evaluating them according to an established scoring criteria.
- Nominations are accepted until July 22, 2015.
- Four award nominees are recommended to the Minister of Culture and Tourism.
- Once approved, a letter from the Minister of Alberta Culture and Tourism notifies each of the award winners* and invites them to receive their award at the ARPA/Energize Conference and Awards Banquet, which takes place annually in October.
(*Award recipients' travel and related expenses to attend the conference and awards banquet are covered, and they receive a plaque recognizing their achievement. A press release is coordinated following the conference.)
