In addition to its work on the designation program, the Committee contributes to ongoing relationship building among communities of interest.

Alberta Recreation Corridors Legislative Review Report

The Alberta Recreation Corridors Legislative Review Report to the Minister of Community Development was submitted in September 2003.

During a province-wide consultation, the committee received more than 1,000 workbook responses and 500 people participated in public and stakeholder meetings in nine Alberta communities. Over 70 representatives of provincial stakeholder organizations from adjacent landowners to agricultural interests and forestry companies, trail operators to motorized and non-motorized trail users took part in the provincial forum.

The report had 31 priority recommendations related to existing trails and possible future recreation corridors in Alberta.
