Recreation Corridors and Trails
Recreation trails are a vital part
of Alberta's past, present and future. To promote the successful and sustainable growth of recreation trails while
limiting the negative effects of unmanaged recreational land uses, the Government of Alberta is implementing a
provincial recreation corridor and trails designation program.
A system of designated recreation corridors and trails:
- responds to Albertans' wishes
- promotes economic development, tourism and rural diversification
- encourages healthy lifestyles
- enhances environmental protection
- aligns with other land uses and objectives
- supports volunteer sector efforts
- honours our history and our historical investments
