The Tourism Division is accountable to the Minister of Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation and is responsible for delivering on Goal 1 of the ministry
Business Plan 2014-17, "Tourism in Alberta is a $10.3 billion industry by 2020, providing sustainable economic benefits to all regions of Alberta".
In accordance with the 2014-17 Business Plan, the Tourism Division is responsible for priority initiatives that:
- Encourage entrepreneurial investment in traveller-focused development of innovative tourism experiences, destination renewal and new destination areas.
- Improve access to Alberta and its tourism regions.
- Actively align and communicate with industry organizations in pursuit of our common goals.
- Utilize a comprehensive, results-based research approach that drives decisions.
